A day out aboard Takey Tezey with Chris & Alan

A couple of days ago Alan & Chris invited us to go out with them on the boat. We went to a village called Tarleton just 4 miles away, it's a lovely run with no locks to open, just swingbridges which Chris showed me how to open & close...

The wind blew the boat about a bit when we got in the cross winds going past the fields which are lower than the canal, Alan said that under normal circumstances today's weather would've prevented them going out, so I think our visit was an exception to the rule. It took us 2 hours to get there, (nothing to do with the wind though) that's as fast as it gets! OK, OK, so it's slow, but that's the whole idea isn’t it...?

We had lunch on board when we moored up at Tarleton…

Alan made us bacon butties, which were yummy. I don't usually have lunch at all but I was starving! Then we went for a walk round the village & set off to come back to the marina. Dave did some of the steering on the way back, & cross winds or not he was really good at it. Alan couldn't believe he'd never driven a canal boat before...

We had a great time & a good laugh. It made us wish she was ours, but alas not yet...
