The first water hens of the season from the nest in the reeds that’s been there for AGES, (behind the boat). Out of 6 eggs there only appears to be 2 babes, perhaps they come in kit form these days…?
So I took some close up photos of the little tinkers – you can almost tell what they’re thinking…

Well there's been a revelation, there's FIVE of them today! (Must've multiplied forth overnight). And there's one little egg still on the nest, we're hoping she'll have time to sit on it, but she seems to have her beak full with the rest of 'em..
