Well thank goodness the wind’s died down

A couple of nights ago a pole on the roof was doing a merry dance, while Dave’s fishing net on the bow was doing the Irish jig all night. It was like trying to sleep in a nuts & bolts factory, if there is such a thing – well there must be somewhere. Anyway, we woke up yesterday morning looking like a couple of ghosts. Everyone else said the same, I mean about not sleeping, but we seemed to be the only 2 lookalike apparitions in the immediate area…

Later on I heard the gentle woo of the inverter humming quietly, (kettle on, TV on, Laptop on, CH on), shouldn’t be a problem. It told me on the panel thingy the electricity was off, & it was now in charge (excuse puny pun). It’s a dumb & dumber thing with the inverter, or a clever & cleverer thing, it just takes over automatically. So in order to be able to hear it, one has to be near my own personal airing cupboard containing cardboard socks, knickers, underpants (latter not mine) & various other items of clothing. You really wanted to know that didn’t you…?

I stifled a titter or two when someone said the security gates at the marina wouldn’t open, well, I mean not on their own. A bit of help from “the man who can” & we were all set free. Never heard of that happening before, never even thought of it. Anyone for Porridge…? However, the leccy wasn’t off for too long, which isn’t so bad when you consider 6,000 bricks n’ mortar homes in this area were without power all day…

So while we’re on the subject of power, my laptop won’t charge up anymore hence I’m tied to a plug socket for now. I’ve tried all the software diagnosis stuff, so it must be the internal battery, & it’s not a year old. Mind you to be fair it takes some bashing, it’s been dropped twice & still runs smooth as a baby’s bum…

The story(s): It’s little home when not in use is on top of a stool under the breakfast bar. First time was Dave rearranging the furniture, he tried to catch it bless him, but it sorta just dropped anyway. Second time was Mark the Spark, again it dropped off the stool as he moved it to sit on. I told him there’d be a lawsuit pending, but he didn’t take any notice – like you wouldn’t if it was me saying it. Thing is, it’s “death wish” phase happened a few months ago, & it only decided not to charge last week, (figures). Ah well, go with the flow, or not as the case may be. (I swear those puns get worse).

---------------------------------------

Well we’re going to see “The Dragon” (that’s a pub) tonight, & hopefully we’ll get a nice meal. Missed out twice there so far. They serve after 6pm during the week, & finish serving at 6pm on Sundays. Guess which way round we got it when we first moved here…?

Heth, Does the mains charge light come on - usually a blinking light when the mains power connector is plugged in and the computer is turned off?

If not, remove the battery pack and then re-fit it again. There are several small connectors and one may not be making a good connection dislodged due to being dropped.

Hi M, M, P & A,

Excuse abbrev lol.

Right, about this battery thing. What I have to do at the moment is shut it down properly before shutting the lid, else I get the "windows did not shut down properly" on restart.

That's because if I just close the lid, even plugged into the mains, it won't save everything in memory.

This happened a few months ago, reseating the battery made no difference. Then I reset Power Settings to default it started working normally again! Tried it this time but no.

Will try reseating the darn thing tomorrow. I dunno, this is the effect I have, sure it must be classed as a talent somewhere lol
