DAB IT

First of all just plain DAB: Dave took the darn thing outside, went through the scanning process & got all the channels (which it did before). But it still appeared to be stuck on the same Asian channel again. The UP & DOWN button (RHS) would jump through all channels on screen, yet we still remained in Asia…

At this point I was politely told to “Watch This.” So he scrolled through to Radio 2 & clicked the button below the up/down one. All of a sudden we were transported back here listening to Steve Wright wittering away. Simples. Up till yesterday we were both so filled with “tech fatigue” from the past few days we’d forgotten about the music box…However, inside (or outside) the boat it has to be in just the right spot, with the aerial in just the right direction for it to work proper. Strange…

For example here on the table is a DAB dead zone…

Whereas here on the breakfast bar, next to the wine rack, it’s quite happy (as you would be)…

Just been shopping – spot the difference…

---------------------------------------------------------------

Second of all DAB-WFND: Dinner And Banter – With Friends Next Door. Another night to go down in history, filed under the heading HNO: Hilarious Night Out…

The birthday girl’s on the right, (Sarah), with the birthday husband (Chris) on the left…

124

And there’s “Della” their gorgeous little dog getting in on the photo shoot…

132

We had a really nice meal there, then moved on to another pub…

THEN we came back here to TT for another round…

THEN Chris & Della both fell asleep on the settee. Meanwhile those of us who were still partially lucid carried on partying out in the lux con till god knows what time. Don’t ask me the name of the restaurant we went to, I’ve forgotten. But the food was great & I’d recommend it to anyone if:

  • I could remember which village it’s in
  • I could remember what it’s called

Greeting

Thanks for your sterling effort with the DAB radio channel tuning, still no luck with this PURE radio of mine, having said that it did cause me some amusement (LOL) and some anxiety.

Whilst attempting to tune in some alternative stations other than the Asian station. I had put it on a long extension lead so I could perambulate around the inside of the boat looking for a 'good reception area' I was just near the side hatch when it picked up the Asian channel again, unfortunately I must have touched the volume button as it was now on full volume playing some Bollywood theme music. Being startled I must have lost my presence of mind and was unable to reduce the volume, so I decided to pull out the mains lead. When I returned to the radio I was greeted by the surprised faces of an elderly couple peering into the boat from the tow-path, I managed to waggle my head and say “very good music” in rather a poor mock Indian accent. They gave a rather anxious stare before accelerating down the tow path at a speed an Olympic athlete would envy

Following this I seem to have lost my will to live and have bundled the cable, radio and it's box and thrown them under the bed. Whilst having a beer later on I thought it is a waste of money (being a Yorkshire man) not being able to use the radio. So I have decided to enrol in a Asian language course, so at least I can understand what is being said, I can see this as the only option left open to me. This of course then presents another problem, what language should I start learning, I don't want to spend 5 years learning a language only to find out I had chosen the wrong one, or that the authorities have moved onto another system and the DAB is obsolete or the Asian station has been taken over and it is now “Free Taliban Radio” (this might not be so bad as I do speak a smattering of Arabic)

As failed Christian I don't mind learning another language but I flatly refuse to convert to any other religion as if I also failed at this as well as Christianity it might give me some complex or other

Gleetings from the loony channel,

Oh dreary me, I tried not to laugh, I really tried not to laugh at this sad situation (honest) & failed miserably.
Your comment here was so brilliantly written, I couldn't stop tittering for ages :-)

You should be blogging!!!

So the name of the yummy dinner Pub is The Bulls Head, in Repton. You need a boat with wheels to get you there. Twas a fab evening and it almost felt like it was nearly summer! (That feeling has been washed away now, thanks to the freakin weather!!)

Hello? Hello? Heth calling..

AM or FM?

Oh isn't t'internet a wonderful thing these days eh, bringing people together from so far away? I'm sat at the breakfast bar here, & if I just move to the right a tad, I can see the top of your head all of 10 yards away..

Yep, was a great night out, Dave sent Chris a txt yesterday. So ask him politely to let us know the hours that his phone is switched on & off, then we can work out what times during the day he's trying to save the planet. Again this is most important seeing as we live so far away.

And quite ironically, I've tried to send this dam thing once & Google lost my well versed comment. So this one's only 2nd best, but never mind, I'm sure I've forgot something..

His phone is always on but whether he is is his call!

Right, tell Chris we'll all club together to buy him one of those old brick phones off Ebay...

(Ahem) with added features:

a) A built in claxon for when it rings,
b) A church bell for texts,
c) Strobe lighting for both.

Can't be missed even if he's asleep...

(PS: Sarah, your photos didn't go on your blog post - just the text)
