Web Hoppers

That’s my phrase for websites written by sleaze balls who are so desperate for “hits” they copy pictures from blogs, then put a link to {your} blog under {your} photo on their site. Thereby making it “legal” even though they haven’t asked your permission. Some bloggers may feel flattered by this – don’t be…

I did a search this morning in Google for one of my old blog posts & noticed a dodgy looking website with a link to my blog. Granted, it was on page 5 in the search, but there’s more to it…

The “web hopper” isn’t interested in showing off your photo, or your blog address. All he / she cares about is coming up high in a search for your blog & many others. Why?

  • Because their badly written website is crammed full of adverts, & they get paid for every click.
  • Or they want to promote something underhand / illegal.

Incorrect spelling & grammar is used for the sole purpose of staying “under the radar.” Google hasn’t quite caught up with email spam filters yet, it has to take into account that people innocently make spelling mistakes. Or deliberately do so for a laugh…

I’m not going to post a link because that’s what BRIAN wants. (He spells it “bryan”) & his website begins with an introduction on a par with something out of a word jumble…

Little note: I’ve had to edit this post & remove the “introductory paragraph” I pasted as an example from “bryan’s” website, because I’ve just reported it. And I don’t want Google looking for those warped phrases on here…!

The page I was directed to consists of 8 photos with other people’s ALL IMPORTANT website addresses, in order to get noticed only by humans. Surrounded by adverts, (mainly for bathrooms in this case), there’s a very friendly invite to move onto the next page of photos by clicking on a link called “GO ON.” Needless to say I didn’t bother…

I suspect it was his keyword FREEZING that brought him to nab my photo of the marina when we were iced in…

So would you really want a photo of yours associated with such a grimy website…? These websites are known as SPAM, & you can report them to Google here.
