It’s our 25th Wedding Anniversary!

And it started off on a very romantic note when Dave handed me my card and said those silver words, “Happy Anniversary dear, married for 25 years so you’re an old boot too!”

Well to be fair the word “too” refers to the fact that “old boot” is one of my jolly pet names for him. For example, (being as he’s a bit older than me), a popular time to say it is when he has to put his reading glasses on, so he can erm, read. I’ll return the compliment tonight whilst perusing the menu when we go for a meal. Oh the romance, it’s too much!

But so far, today hasn’t lived up to “silver” expectations. Besides being our special anniversary, it’s also been “bow thruster resurrection day.” However, you know when you get that secret feeling that something isn’t going to work? (TT’s fault), well I did.

Ian, our already proven true genius magicIAN electricIAN came to refit the solenoid & motor, which has been running fine for him on a bench test.

But on here it doesn’t, even for him. We should’ve told him it wouldn’t be eezy on this boat.

The original problem:

There’s a “click” noise at the bow when you press left or right on the control panel at the stern, nothing happens & that’s as far is it goes,, or doesn’t as the case may be.

The original diagnosis:

  • There’s still a hole in the insulation which had to be dug through to fit the important bits when the BT was fitted in March 2010.
  • Because of that, condensation has built up on some of the connectors on the solenoid & they’ve turned to goo. (So Dave’s going to plug the gap when it’s been sorted).
  • The cables that run through the boat are fine, (else there’d be no “click”), the batteries are fine. And everything else was checked & double checked by Ian while he was here – all ok.

So he took the solenoid & the motor away, turned out he could replace the connectors & save us a lot of dosh. The successful bench test afterwards worked & proved the case.

Today:

Refitted & ready to go? No,, still just the “click” for left & right. {Humph.} We’re all up for the challenge & Ian, who’s baffled, is going to contact Vetus. By rights EVERYTHING should be working correctly, he knows these bow thruster’s inside out. But with our luck, what do you think?

Such is life & all that. We’re immune to TT’s tantrums now, so it’s not a big problem! But it’ll be interesting to find out what.

Right, that’s it, got to go & iron me best frock & hat with netting on – strange that, I don’t do ironing & I don’t do hat’s…

Coming up tomorrow: Dave the chimley sweep & another problem…………

10-Other-Commandments
Someone has written these beautiful words. Must read and try to understand the deep meaning of it. They are like the ten commandments to follow in life all the time.
1] Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble, but is a "steering wheel" that directs the right path throughout.

2] Why is a car's windshield so large & the rear view mirror so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, Look Ahead and Move on.

3]Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4] All things in life are temporary. If going well, enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.

5]Old Friends are Gold! New Friends are Diamond! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold a Diamond, you always need a Base of Gold!

6] Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax, sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!

7] When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities; when GOD doesn't solve your problems HE has faith in your abilities.

8] A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision!"

9] When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes when you are safe and happy, it means that someone has prayed for you.

10] WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.
