Difficult Decision Made

The other day I did a blog post about me blogging for over 5 years. It made me think 5 years is long enough for any blog, & I’ve decided to give it a rest.

I’ve noticed that over time Blogs can become crowded with the same old pictures, and the same old written content. So I’m going out on a high rather than allowing this blog to go stale & repetitive.

I’d like to say a big thanks to all my faithful followers & friends for staying aboard as it were & keeping me afloat, we had a laugh didn’t we? But this girl is all blogged out now, & it’s just too time consuming.

I’ve removed myself from UKWRS so there’ll be no more controversy over hits & how they mean everything to some people.

I’ll be around on Farcebook though, there’s more boaters on there than there are writing blogs, & I haven’t had chance to keep up with my boaty Facebook friends for ages.

I even deleted my profile off there today. It was too bloated & I couldn’t keep up with 500 friends, most of whom I did not know! So I’ve created a new profile for boating pals, family & friends only. Keep the numbers down & I can keep up!

So that’s where me & all my photos will be from now on. I’ve put a Facebook Badge to my profile on the top left of the blog.

I might think about sending my blog to Blog 2 Print so I’ve got a hard copy to keep forever.

Hope you’ve enjoyed reading this blog as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it. However it feels good to let go…

Hi Heth,

Very sorry to see you go but understand why you are doing it.

I've been reading your blog for probably about three years, ever since I discovered canal blogs; in fact ever since I discovered blogs!.

I've sometimes agreed with you and sometimes not, sometimes, not having my own boat yet, I've not fully understood the issues. Sometimes I've sorrowed for you beating yourself up so much. However, I've always enjoyed your unique style and energy.

I will miss you and I'm sure many others will too; I'm not sure if I'm ready to make the technological leap into Farcebook yet.

Recharge your batteries and keep shooting from the hip.

Kind regards,

Graham

Hi Graham,

Thank you so much, & you'd be welcomed by all in my little circle of dear canal boating friends on Farcebook. Would like to hear from you again, nobody sits in judgement on there.

Heth xx

Yes, hopefully we'll meet up sometime. I've been reading your blog for some time now via RSS feed. Keep going, it's very good :)

It's a bit final, isn't it, Heth? Couldn't you just post less frequently if you feel that it's too time-consuming? Oh well, I expect Jan on FB will keep me up to date with the joys and trials of Takey Tezey.

How strange to say goodbye to someone I don't know? I'm with Graham's comments on this. Boaty blogs are strange things...interesting, informative (for me, learning the ropes!) and I've enjoyed yours. Thank you. Wishing you.......xxA

Hi Heth
Sorry to see you go. We'll miss your wit and unique take on some of the issues facing boaters.
Keep well, we'll pop in and see you when we're near Willington.
All the best,

Hi Heth, was it something one of my meerkat minions said!!!!

Enjoy the break, blogging can be all consuming and can take up a lot of valuable time.

We have each others numbers. Next time we are passing we will give you a ring.

Take care - Mick n Mags.
